A PDF is a far more practical format than a folder of loose image files whenever you need to share, print, or archive a set of pictures as a single, ordered document. Each page's dimensions and the image's placement on it are calculated based on your chosen page size and orientation, then the finished PDF is assembled and returned as a downloadable file.
Because this builds a standard, fully compliant PDF using a JavaScript PDF library running directly in your browser, the result opens normally in any PDF reader — Adobe Acrobat, a browser's built-in viewer, a phone's default PDF app — with no dependency on the tool that created it.
A4 (the international standard, used almost everywhere outside North America) and Letter (the US standard) both produce a document that behaves like a normal multi-page report or scanned form — consistent page dimensions throughout, suitable for printing, and familiar to anyone opening the file. Portrait orientation suits most scanned documents and vertically-oriented photos; landscape suits wide photos, screenshots, or spreadsheet-style content where width matters more than height.
Fit to Image is the better choice when the images themselves are the point — a photo gallery, a set of design mockups, or scans where you want the PDF page to exactly match the source image's proportions and resolution rather than forcing everything into a standard paper size. There's no single right answer; it depends on whether the PDF's main purpose is printing and formal document handling (favor A4/Letter) or preserving and viewing the images themselves with maximum fidelity to their original dimensions (favor Fit to Image).
Arrange your images in the list before creating the PDF rather than after — reordering is instant and it's easier to get the sequence right once up front, especially for anything with a natural reading order like scanned document pages. If your images vary significantly in orientation (a mix of portrait and landscape photos), Fit to Image usually gives a cleaner-looking result than A4 or Letter, since forcing a landscape photo onto a portrait page (or vice versa) leaves more unused margin than fitting each page to its own image.
